My Brother Jimmy

Tonight as I look over my blogs and check in with my memories, I felt in to see what I should share in this blog. I was called to veer off from my normal chronological blog writing and to just share about one special person in my life, my brother Jimmy. It just so happens I got a text from Jimmy as I was contemplating my blog.

I was looking over my previous blogs and my pictures. They help me to connect into my memories. I saw a picture of Jimmy with our mother when he was approximately ten years of age. I asked him if he had any memories connected to the time this picture was taken. This is something I do occasionally when I am writing is to speak with Jimmy and ask him about things I remember and normally he recalls things from his life.

Jimmy is next to me in our chronological age for mother’s children. I am the youngest and he is five years older. This is always something we joke about. Jimmy has a very youthful spirit and he always teases me about him being younger than me. We have a great friendship. Even though we are siblings we are good friends too. Our relationship has been one that has been a constant positive throughout my entire life.

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you know they are mostly about the difficult times because that’s where my life lessons were and what I needed to process for my healing. I am so close in my writings to the current time. I believe now there is going to be a shift in my looking back and remembering. It really feels like now I am ready to find all the good times I had in my life. Most of my happy childhood memories involve my brother Jimmy.

A lot of our childhood memories are connected to the time we spent together at granny Shanks’ house. My loyal readers know the story of how Jimmy came to be raised by his paternal grandmother Nina Kate Shanks. If you’re new to my blogs I hope you will go read on my website to catch up. Mother would take me to stay with Jimmy at granny Shanks’ often.

I have told about the time the Christmas tree fell on top of me and Jimmy, when we use to walk to the local movie theater and him and his friends would hide and jump out and scare me, and the Christmas Jimmy and our older brother, David had me believing Santa was on granny’s roof. There are more and I will be sharing those. The main thing I want to really emphasize tonight is the unconditional love my brother Jimmy and I share.

I have never had to question the love we have for one another. We both came through some really tough life experiences but we always had each other. We have a very special bond and I am truly so thankful for my brother Jimmy. Love is the key to our peace. My hope is you too have a “Jimmy” in your life. May we all focus more on the sweetness of this life. My prayer for you is to heal your traumas and shadows so you can get to this place of peace and love.
