I remember it just like it was yesterday! I was so excited and so were the boys. In the elevator and the car we were singing the song “Chapel of Love” (going to the chapel and gonna get married.). I actually have this on old 8mm video.
We got married in the cutest little wedding chapel in Gatlinburg, Tn. Gosh one of the crazy memories was the preacher who married Rick and I had evidently ate something with garlic for lunch. His breathe was so bad. Rick and I laughed about it later.
We really just wanted something small and simple. My friends at work were planning us a reception type luncheon when I returned back to work from vacation. That is one awesome thing back then your co-workers at the Telephone Company were like family. They were always so supportive of Rick and I. Especially later on when he got sick.
After the wedding ceremony Rick, the boys, myself, and Charlie, Rick’s best friend, and Cindy, his girlfriend all had a big dinner at a nice local restaurant there in Gatlinburg, Tn. The food was delicious. We went back to our hotel and then had a night swim in the pool. Such sweet memories now but it truly was like a life time ago, 32 years this August 11th.
